Every day, local farmers bring hand-picked, perfectly ripe cherries to the Coba processing station. Thanks to elevations above 2,100 meters, traditional cultivation, and the meticulous work of producer Habtamu Fekadu Aga, this coffee represents some of the finest flavours Ethiopia has to offer.

In the cup, you’ll be greeted by a delicate floral aroma and honey-like sweetness. Bright notes of strawberry and pineapple follow, beautifully balanced with a touch of citrus freshness.

The Story Behind This Coffee

This coffee originates in the high-altitude region of Uraga in Guji, at the Coba processing station led by producer Habtamu Fekadu Aga — a long-term partner of our roastery.

Coba takes its name from the ensät leaf, a plant used daily in local communities. Around 116 smallholder farmers bring their handpicked, perfectly ripe cherries of varieties 74110, 74112, and local heirlooms to this station.

Habtamu is known not only for exceptional quality standards but also for his strong social commitment. Farmers receive premiums above market price, share profits from sales, and pickers are provided with food and accommodation during harvest. Each cup of this coffee carries not only the flavour of Ethiopia but also the care and dedication of the people who produce it.

Cultivation & Harvest

The high altitudes of Uraga (2100–2300 m) provide ideal conditions for slow cherry development. Traditional farming, organic methods, and natural shade create a unique microclimate that gives this coffee its clarity and complexity.

Cherries are hand-picked exclusively at full ripeness. They then undergo a natural process, drying on raised African beds, where they are turned regularly to achieve stable sweetness and a vibrant, fruity profile.

Thanks to the meticulous work of local farmers and the region’s exceptional terroir, Ethiopia Coba offers a cup that is expressive, fruity, and beautifully balanced.

Exceptional Coffee with an Exceptional Score

cupping score is a standard tool for evaluating the flavor quality of coffee.
To be classified as specialty coffee, a score above 80 points is required.

By contrast, commodity-grade coffees (often found in supermarkets) score below 80 and are designed for mass production, where yield and cost outweigh quality.
