The Story Behind This Coffee

Each bean of Tambaya Nyeri AB tells a story of generational craftsmanship and terroir-driven excellence.

Sourced from Tambaya Factory, part of the Othaya Farmers’ Cooperative Society, this coffee represents the combined effort of over 600 smallholder farmers in the Nyeri region.

These family-run farms have spent decades perfecting their craft. With small plots and deep tradition, their focus is not on quantity – but on exceptional quality. And that shines through in every cup.

Cultivation & Harvest

Grown at 1,600 meters above sea level in Kenya’s fertile volcanic soil, the coffee cherries mature slowly under cool mountain climates – allowing for deeper, more complex flavor development.

Here you’ll find legendary Kenyan varietals like SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian – famous for their vibrant acidity, wine-like character, and full body.

Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, fully washed using pure mountain spring water, and dried slowly on raised African beds – a process that enhances sweetness, clarity, and that signature Kenyan fruit-forward punch.
