Have you ever bought a bag of beautiful specialty coffee, only to notice that its flavour becomes less vibrant after a few weeks? One of the main reasons is exposure to oxygen.
Oxygen gradually contributes to the oxidation of aromatic compounds and natural oils in roasted coffee. This can lead to weaker aromas, less expressive flavours and a gradual loss of freshness.
Airscape helps reduce this exposure by pushing excess air out of the space above your coffee beans. This creates better storage conditions for preserving their original flavour and aromatic character.
Patented technology that pushes air out
A conventional coffee container seals the beans together with the air trapped inside. Airscape works differently.
Its specially designed inner lid moves down towards the coffee beans. As you press it down, excess air escapes through a one-way valve, allowing the lid to seal closer to the coffee.
The system helps reduce the amount of oxygen surrounding the beans. Rather than creating a complete vacuum, Airscape minimises the air remaining inside the container.
This makes it easy to store your favourite coffee without complicated pumps, suction devices or additional accessories.
Why does freshly roasted coffee release gas?
During roasting, coffee beans accumulate carbon dioxide (CO₂), which is gradually released after roasting. This natural process is known as degassing.
This is why freshly roasted coffee is often allowed to rest for a while before brewing. The ideal resting period depends on factors such as roast level and brewing method.
Airscape features a one-way valve in its inner lid, allowing air to escape as the lid is pressed down. The movable lid also adjusts to the amount of coffee remaining in the container, reducing unnecessary empty space.
How to use your Airscape canister
Simple, effective sealing
Fill the canister with your coffee beans, place the inner lid inside and slowly press it down towards the coffee.
As you press, excess air escapes through the valve. Secure the inner lid according to the canister's mechanism, then replace the outer lid.
Better everyday storage
Store your Airscape canister in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
For the best flavour, we recommend storing whole coffee beans and grinding them just before brewing. Wash the canister by hand and allow it to dry completely before refilling.
